Hi there. I’m Scott, and this is the statement of being for ECS!
But, before we get too deep into it, can we just pause a moment and appreciate the beautiful miracle that is… us? You and I, just being here, right now, is such a profound thing. Life. Being alive.
How is this even possible? I recently heard that the odds of are greater than 1 in 440 Trillion.
I am not entirely sure how they came up with that number but I get the gist of it. Factor in the estimated number of planets, the odds of certain random chemical reactions happening, add in a few thousand unfathomably strange, and over my head, statistics. And there you have it.
It’s mind boggling. And I think that may be the point. If, that is, there is a point.
What we know is is that we are “here”, and something is happening, and our awareness of this happening is, well… pretty cool.
“cogito, ergo sum“
I think, therefore, I am!
-René Descartes
How many have come before us? Well, it’s estimated that 117 billion members of our species have ever been born on Earth. And that’s just us, our branch of bipedal mammals, Homo sapiens. What about all the “others” in our historic family tree?
Billions of years old, our planet is. Our species has been developing for, at least, 300,000 – 500,000 years. So much has lead up to this moment, countless lifetimes, all unique individuals, with their own storied lives. Generation after generation after generation, all linked together by being here, on this planet. Having similar, but different, experiences. Eating, sleeping, laughing, crying… our stories, you and I, are but two of them.
Where did it start? (did it?) When will it end? (will it?) It’s incredible! There is so many ideas and theories about this stuff. I find it all so fascinating!
Think about this… at this very moment there are 7.8+ billion other people. That’s a lot! How many is that? I looked into this, actually, and found out that it would take over 750 YEARS to count to 7.8 billion. To put this into perspective, If someone started counting to 7.8 billion, in the year 1270, they would be close to wrapping that up today.
That’s humanity.
We are all sharing this planet, this very special blue-green dot that’s floating in space, and we call it “Earth”. The sweetest part of it is that we all, well, most of us anyhow, have similar hopes, dreams, and desires. We want to live in a world that is more just, free, and secure. We all want fresh food and water. We want our children to be happy and healthy, we want to laugh and play with our friends and family.
I’ll take it a step further, even… I’m sitting here in Michigan right now typing away, which is some time in your “past”, and you are there, (where are you?) reading these words in what will be my “future”. Somehow we have managed to figure out how to merge onto a time/space continuum to communicate and connect. Technology has made this possible. If not for technology we would probably never connect in life. We used our minds to make this happen. We, being the collective humanity throughout our history, and this, being just about every single aspect of our lives. These “devices” are mere reflections of our progress and process all these years.
But… Why?
WHY ARE WE HERE?
I mean, that’s the big question, isn’t it? If we could ask every 7.8 billion people of us on this planet this question, we would get all kinds of interesting answers. And they would all be correct. Our perspectives and beliefs all depends on the unique lives that we live.
It’s the great enigma in life… the Great Mystery. And it’s impossible to answer, really. So let’s move on to another question…
one that may be a bit easier to answer.
HOW ARE WE DOING?
This may be a bit surprising to you, but, generally, I think we are actually doing… ok.
I can imagine what you may be thinking, “Whaaaat? Scott, how can say we are doing ok? Are you not paying attention to all the injustices and atrocities that are going on right now? Do you not watch the news?”
Well, first of all, no, I don’t really watch the news very often, for a few reasons. And YES, I am aware. I am very much aware. It’s infuriating.
Whenever I think about it, for any length of time, I feel trapped, dupped, and powerless to do anything about any of it. It feels gross.
After all these great minds and all the hard work of generation after generation of good people, we are still dealing with so many of the issues that we have always faced. And more and more issues seem to be piling up. I am not blind to this.
With this said, I still think that we are actually doing… ok…. Hear me out for moment, please.
We, you and I, have only been here but for a blip in the whole life on Earth story. Each of our experiences account for one grain of sand on the giant beach of life on earth.Truth be told, this place was kinda jacked up when we got here. It’s not like we stumbled into life and it was all just perfect before we got here. The Culture and the circumstances were already here. We had to learn how to live and to be the people that we are, through experience and gaining knowledge.
Things are definitely bad, but it’s not our fault. Sure, some of it, very well may be our doing, but as far as the whole “big picture” goes, we are not responsible.
Until we are, but more on this later.
We have never had all the information to get a complete story. Only segments of stories that we try to pieced together and make decisions based on this patchwork of information. Nor have we had access to resources and tools to do anything about it even if we did. And even if we did, when it comes right down to it, we can only, really effect the space around us, and the people in it.
Think it’s weird out there now, imagine what it must have been like prior to reading and writing. Before we understood “science”. And yet, somehow, we’ve made it to this far, didn’t we? All those who came before us had carried us along to this… now!
Those people are called out ancestors. Let’s give it up to our ancestors for a minute!
Thank you, ancestors! We appreciate you! Not all of you. There are a few that we would really rather not have been in the mix, but for the most part… YAY!
We have arrived here, at this moment, by learning from the victories, and the defeats, the good choices, and the not so good choices, of the generations before us. Those who taught us how to be, are also all just grains of sand. As were their teachers and their teachers teachers… going all the way back to the first time one being shared a concept with another.
Each generation picking up where the previous left off. Everything we are is merely a collection of individual experiences linked together in time. In this way we truly are linked to everyone who has ever walked the earth. And all the while, we are just trying to make sense of it and live the very best we can.
So, I really do believe that we have, and those that came before us have, done the best we can, with what we have been given.
Absolutely there have been many “mistakes”. But let’s just call them “missed steps“.
Mistakes doesn’t feel appropriate, since we have all just been winging it. Missed steps feels a lot less… shameful. We simply didn’t know, or if we did, there wasn’t much we could do about it.
We are getting to a point, though, that we need to take a closer look at how we go here, and see if there is anything we can do to “change” some things around here.
As we take stock of where we have been, the path we took to get here, and take a really good look at where we are now, we can start to see a pattern, and from this pattern we can discern a trajectory as to where we may be heading.
How does that feel for you? Do you like where we seem to be going?
CAN WE DO BETTER?
Then we begin to ask this question, Can we do better, the answer is almost automatic. We know that we can. But what does this mean? How do we “do better”? Where do we start?
It starts with honesty, are you happy with YOUR decisions? What would you like to change about your life and how you live it? Then it moves to the people around you. What can you do to help the community around you? And then it goes to the next level…
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT THE WORLD….
For me it’s pretty easy to answer this on. Because It’s what I have been attempting to do for a long time, in once capacity or another. And this is to help others create the projects, lives, and communities of their dreams. I do this knowing that their hopes and dreams are the same as mine. And so by inspiring, encouraging, and empowering others then we all get to live in a world that is more just, freed, and secure. A rising tide lifts all ships! Myself included.
My goal with ECS is to create a space, a platform for people to use, that welcomes and rewards the brave souls who decide to actually do something, and there are a lot of us. You are far from being alone. There are millions of us out here, waiting to come together to create wonderful things.
That’s were ECS comes in… but more on this in a minute.
Let’s get back to that question… is there one thing that you would love to see changed?
There is a reason I keep bringing this up. I am trying to get you to actually think about it, and just read the words. So I am going to ask it one more time….
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
When we write or speak an intention something wonderful happens in our brain. The more we think about it, and share, the idea, the stronger it gets. This brings confidence. We get more and more secure with the idea that maybe, just maybe, we can actually do it!
And I would seriously love to hear your ideas. If you have something on your mind and want to share it, please send it to us via the Contact Us page under HOME in the navigation menu. If I can I will reply with some questions. Not to challenge you, but ot trigger even more of those registering Neural pathways that are activated every single time you think about something. Have you noticed that the more you think about something, the more that thing seems to come into being?
THAT is what I am talking about here!
To be clear, I am not saying that simply writing it down is like waving a magic wand and, “Poof! New world!”. I think of it more like activating a portal. The more we speak to it, the stronger that portal gets… and this portal takes you to a place where your idea now has more energy, more thought power. Which is real thing. I am saying that each time you speak it you are getting closer. This is where the phrase “Speaking it into existence” comes from.
Here’s the thing, even if it feels impossible (it’s not.), if you don’t feel that you are qualified (you are.), or if you have no ideas where to start (you just did.) the very moment you wrote it or spoke it the very first time, the process of it becoming, started. The energy shifted a lil’ bit. The more energy you put into it, the more real it becomes.
Now just imagine if we everyone reading this picked “one thing” and that idea turned into a “real world” solution. How many of us are there? It wouldn’t take long for real change to take hold.
THIS is WHY I created ECS, to see if I can help expedite this process along a bit.
Emergence CreativeSpace was created so that we have a dedicated space to find, and connect with, a community of like-minded people, find information that can help us on our journey, and sponsor people, projects, and ideas with valuable resources. All while being presented with inspirational stories and media that fill our hearts and minds with things to feel good about. In this way we are witnessing, and supporting, our shared progress.
The goal of ECS is to provide tools that help conscious (thoughtful) community members build on their dream projects that create change. My personal goal with ECS is to have it be an ever evolving platform that morphs to meet the needs of the community, and to be an active part of this community. I want to feel like I am “making a difference”.

I get excited knowing the world can shift into one where justice, freedom, security, and opportunity are the core of who we are. And I get excited about knowing that it’s sphere of influence to bring this to the world. Also, I am excited that I get to share the Emergence CreativeSpace with you now, as something that can help us all Live, Learn, Love, & Grow, together.
Alright then…
The Past, The Future, Time, Space, Miracles, Healing, Beauty, Hope, and Community. Did I get it all in there? LOL
ECS is ripe for your in depth exploration. Please take a few minutes to explore. I invite you to become a Beacons Community Member when it’s ready (it’s free), and start using the tools I have laid out as part of this platform.
If you’re reading this then that means I’ve already put in a bit of work creating the ECS platform and I’m now ready to share it.
The site may not be finished yet, my goal to publish ECS is “sometime in the spring of 2014. But I am ready to call in more energy, get some feedback, and find out what peoples thoughts are as I get ready for “The Big Push”. That’s when I will cast a much wider net to help reach more people and accomplish our goals, possibly get some help with it. (See the rest of the Start Here page)
The entire message you just read, is my writing out the vision and mission for the Emergence CreativeSpace, and it was written with the intention that every single person who reads this ads to the circuit board of consciousness, it’s like planting a seed in the hearts and minds of the readers, and thus makes it that much more real.
Just as I asked you to share your vision… this is mine.
Please take a few minutes to read the rest of the “Start Here” page, and from there, if you are so inspired, take a look at the rest of the ECS website/platform.
Let us know what you think of this so far? There may be a lot to it that isn’t completely functional yet, but that’s cool. It’s a process.
So here we are, back to where we started, with me here, in your past, and you there, in my future, breaching time and space, sharing a concept, and idea, a tool, that might very well help support many amazing things… to come. Are you ready to do something awesome? Let’s get inspired! (That’s the Portals Podcast tagline, btw!)
Yeah! This is undoubtedly an extraordinary place to begin.
